On a recent visit to Western Australia my daughter and I stayed in the town called Cervantes. Lake Thetis, just outside this town is one of only a few places in the world with living marine stromatolites communities, rock-like structures, which have been growing there for over three and a half thousand years. This means that when we look at these rock-like structures we are stepping back in time. One morning we got up before dawn to visit the lake and experience what it might have been like at the dawn of time.

I only had my iPhone and I took a few snaps. Back home; I heard the music of Max Richter and thought it was the saddest, yet most beautiful music I had ever come across. I immediately knew that my iPhone pics would work.

Bei einem kürzlichen Besuch in Westaustralien blieben meine Tochter und ich in der Stadt Cervantes. Der Thetis-See, etwas außerhalb dieser Stadt, ist einer der wenigen Orte auf der Welt mit lebenden marinen Stromatoliten-Gemeinschaften und steinartigen Strukturen, die seit über dreieinhalbtausend Jahren dort wachsen. Das heißt, wenn wir uns diese steinartigen Strukturen anschauen, treten wir in die Vergangenheit zurück. Eines Morgens standen wir vor Morgengrauen auf, um den See zu besuchen und zu erleben, wie es in der Frühzeit gewesen sein könnte.

The author's reflection both past and present on the tragedy of the Irish Famine that occurred in the 1840s while taking part in a yearly Famine Walk in 2017. It's based on a true story that occurred in the West of Ireland in 1849 to illustrate what a tragedy the famine really was to the Irish people.

The total area consists of approximately 1500 ha. reclaimed land, and from 1250 ha. water which is shallower than 2.5 meters. The shore length is approximately 20km. In September the Samphire blooms and the mudflats are beautifully coloured.

Tibet ist ein sehr beeindruckendes Land mit einer spontanen Bevölkerung, die unter Druck der chinesischen Regierung leben muss. Trotzdem scheinen sie glücklich zu sein und würden gerne kommunizieren, aber sie sind vorsichtig damit. Eine Fahrt über Land, rund 5000 Meter hoch und unter welchen Bedingungen die Bevölkerung lebt und arbeitet, hat beeindruckt.

Jahrestages der Wiedereinweihung unserer Kirche, die nach dem verheerenden Brand von 1964 wieder aufgebaut wurde, veranstalteten die Einwohner von St. Michaels mit einem Blumenfestival "A Host of Angels" eine wundervolle Darstellung von Farbe und Kreativität. Jeder der Blumenarrangeure erhielt eine Engelsgeschichte aus der Bibel, die sie interpretieren und erstellen mussten. Ich hatte das Privileg, an dieser einzigartigen Veranstaltung beteiligt zu sein.
